PROBLEMATICS ACADEMIC AND NON-ACADEMIC OF FOREIGN STUDENTS IN TUTORIAL MODEL BIPA

Abstract


The tutorial model of BIPA learning is an intensive learning model for foreign students by providing additional tutorials outside of classroom learning. The tutorial model in BIPA learning has an important role because it helps to improve the Indonesian language skills of foreign students. But in practice, the tutorial model has problems. This article aims to describe the problems of academic and non-academic aspects experienced when implementing the tutorial model of BIPA learning. The problems described were studied using qualitative research methods. Sources of data come from foreign students who take BIPA learning with the tutorial model at the State University of Malang. The data collection technique was done through intensive interviews. Research findings on the academic aspect are (1) language skills, (2) tutorial topics, (3) learning styles, (4) learning methods, and (5) learning rules. The findings in non-academic aspects include (1) psychological, (2) sociological, (3) tutor attitudes/habits, and (4) learning environment.
